EICR electrical testing in Spalding

An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is a formal inspection of the wiring, boards and circuits in a building. PPM Electrical Ltd carries out landlord and commercial EICRs across Spalding, South Holland and Lincolnshire, with a clear report and a quote for any remedial work.

Who needs an EICR

Landlords in England must have an EICR at least every five years, and when a new tenancy starts if the last report has run out. Managing agents in Spalding and the Deepings ask for this as standard.

Businesses need periodic inspection too. Offices, shops, warehouses, farms and food premises fall under the Electricity at Work Regulations. How often depends on the environment: a dry office might be every five years; a packhouse, workshop or agricultural building is often more frequent because of moisture, dust and heavy use.

What we inspect

We test and inspect consumer units and distribution boards, circuits, earthing and bonding, accessories, and visible wiring. The report uses standard codes: C1 (danger, immediate), C2 (potentially dangerous), C3 (improvement recommended) and FI (further investigation). We explain those in plain language, not just a spreadsheet of circuit numbers.

Remedial work

A report on its own does not make the installation safe. If we find C1 or C2 items we will quote to put them right — consumer unit upgrades, bonding, damaged cables, overloaded circuits. You can use another contractor if you prefer; you will still have a proper report from a NAPIT-certified inspection and testing contractor (EAS scope A2.1 dwellings and A2.2 other than dwellings).

Commercial fixed-wire testing

Larger sites may need a phased inspection so production is not shut down in one go. We can plan that with you, including out-of-hours testing for cold stores and packhouses. Emergency lighting tests can be booked at the same time.

Areas and turnaround

We cover Spalding, Holbeach, Bourne, Pinchbeck, Crowland, Long Sutton, Boston, Market Deeping and Peterborough. Domestic landlord EICRs are usually booked in a single visit. Commercial buildings are quoted after we know the size of the installation.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a landlord EICR take?
A typical house or flat is often a few hours, depending on the number of circuits and whether we can access all rooms. We need power on and someone to let us in.
What is the difference between C1, C2 and C3?
C1 is immediate danger. C2 is potentially dangerous and usually needs work before you can be satisfied the installation is satisfactory. C3 is improvement recommended, not a fail on its own.
Do you give prices on the website?
Domestic landlord EICRs are quoted from a short description of the property. Commercial testing is priced after we know the board count and site constraints. Call 07714 736921.
